Sonam Jain, a visionary artist born in Malerkotla in 1986, expresses her inner world through acrylic colors. A gold medalist in M.F.A. (Painting) from Govt. College of Art, Chandigarh, Sonam’s work navigates emotions and societal perceptions. Her narrative paintings blend traditional and modern motifs, particularly drawing inspiration from comics. Symbolism, notably figures from playing cards, represents societal dynamics with a fantasy touch. The ‘KING’ and ‘QUEEN’ symbolize authority, contrasting with ‘GHULAM’ and puppets, representing the oppressed. Sonam’s solo show “Play or Be Played” at Lalit Kala Academy (2014) showcased her distinctive storytelling. Awards include the All India Patron Art Award 2023 and a Bronze Award at the Fiesta Art International Art Exhibition 2022. With numerous exhibitions and workshops, Sonam Jain continues to evolve her artistic dialogue, bridging myth and reality in the contemporary socio-political landscape.
The artist currently lives and works in New Delhi, India.
